Sumner Regional Medical Center (SRMC) physicians, leaders and clinicians gathered this week to celebrate the Center of Distinction Award, which was given to Sumner Regional Medical Center’s Wound Care Center by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal.
“This recognition speaks volumes about the quality of care our Wound Care Center has achieved in a short period of time,” said Susan Peach, CEO of Sumner Regional Medical Center. “The physicians and staff have produced outstanding clinical results for the patients we serve that can stop advanced clinical issues from occurring.”
Sumner Wound Care offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Leading-edge treatments at the Center include negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. Sumner Wound Care also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.
“I’m very proud of our team of physicians, nurses and other wound care specialists for the expert care they deliver,” said Elizabeth Sharp, RN, director of Sumner Wound Care. “
