Sumner Regional Medical Center provides community classes on health topics ranging from birthing and childhood to sleep apnea to hobbies such as gardening and healthy cooking. The hospital often joins with national organizations to provide specific seminars and sends physicians to speak at community events throughout the year. We also offer support groups for patients, family members as well as members of the community who wish to share experiences and information.

Prepared Childbirth Class
Meets first four consecutive Mondays every month from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Registration for this free class series is recommended but not required. Having a baby is a special experience. New parents, and even experienced ones, may find the addition of a new family member overwhelming. Special Delivery 101 prepares parents-to-be for pregnancy, labor, delivery and newborn care. Simply knowing what to expect can help ease much of the apprehension and concern associated with having a baby. We encourage mothers-to-be to attend during the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy and to bring their spouse or support person.

Community Grief Support Class Series
Free class series for those who have lost a loved one during the past year or those with unresolved loss.
As part of the bereavement program at HighPoint Hospice, grief support classes are offered to help individuals and families process their feelings of loss. Classes are lead by Julie Moore MA, LMSW, HCM, a bereavement coordinator specializing in the area of grief and loss. The classes are open to anyone in the community, as well as hospice families. During the six-week series, the participants learn about grief and loss, the tasks of grief, what to expect after a significant loss, and adjusting to and accepting their life without their loved one. Participants also bond with one another, discovering a valuable resource: their fellow bereaved.
